Sensicomm LLC was started in 2003 by Joe Rothweiler to
provide research and development services in the areas of digital signal
processing, speech and audio analysis, and general signal processing. Services
include basic analysis, algorithm development, programming, and hardware
design and development.
Clients have included Sirius Satellite Radio, Agere Systems
(a department that is now part of Infineon), L-3 Communications, and
various smaller and start-up companies.
Prior to becoming a consultant, I worked in R&D at companies including
Lucent and
Sanders A Lockheed-Martin Company (now part of BAE Systems).
Work included low-rate speech and audio
coding, voice analysis and processing, and communication system design and
simulation.
Some highlights are invention of the Polyphase Quadrature
Filter bank, very low rate (1000 bps and below) speech coding algorithms,
and work on the Sirius Satellite Radio audio compression components.
Informaton on my papers and patents is being collected on my
personal website, www.rothweiler.us.
Blog
I now have a blog, at sensicomm.blogspot.com My first
post is about using
a Xilinx FPGA development system on Debian Linux. More information
is available here on this website.
Devices supported
Some of the devices I use in my work include:
As a member of the Analog Devices
DSP CollaborativeTM
, I provide signal
processing and algorithm development services for the BLACKfinTM processor.
Click here for more information, and
related trademark notices. Examples of recent projects using Analog Devices parts include
◊ A Reed-Solomon encoder and decoder for the Blackfin
family of Digital Signal Processors. details
This software has now been released under the GNU General Public License.
◊ A rotation and motion sensor using the ADXRS150 micromachined
gyro. See www.myown1.com/robot
for some info about this project.
- Atmel AVR family of
microcontrollers.
- FTDI single-chip USB-to-serial
and USB-to-parallel interfaces. These chips provide a convenient, low cost
way to add USB connectivity to the AVR or other microcontrollers and DSP's.
- Anadigm Field Programmable
Analog Arrays (FPAAs). Information about an in-house project is
under projects/anadigm.
